What is Split the Wine?
A way to split one restaurant check fairly after the table gets a single itemized bill. You photograph the receipt, share a private link, and everyone claims what they ordered. They then pay you in Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or whatever you listed—not through us.
Do guests need an account?
No. Guests open your link in a browser, add a display name, claim items, and settle. They don’t create a Split the Wine account.
How do I invite guests to claim and pay me?
After you publish the tab, the app gives you a private claim link. Anyone with that link can open the claim board, pick what they had, see what they owe, and open your payment app (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, and so on).
You don’t need their phone numbers. On the share screen, use Copy, Share (your phone’s share sheet), or QR.
Tip: for a mixed table (iPhones and Androids), QR is usually fastest. AirDrop and Nearby Share only work same-brand to same-brand.
How do people pay me?
Split the Wine figures out each person’s total. It does not hold money. Guests tap your Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or other handle and pay you in that app. We can’t automatically confirm that a payment went through.
Does the restaurant need the app?
No. The restaurant closes one check as usual. You and the table sort reimbursement among yourselves.
